The programmes offered in the department shall prepare the professionals in the area of IT related activities and applied statistics. The department intends to work in the following areas : Teaching programmes leading to diploma and degree in the area of Computer application, Information Technology and Statistics. Providing support to all the IT activities in the Institute. Continuing Education programme in the area of computers and statistics Interdisciplinary research in the department This department works as a Nodal agency in the Institute to network other existing departments and provide I.T. facilities in a unified manner. Besides this, philosophy of the department is to equip various professionals to develop expertise in various aspects of Computer Science and Applied Statistics for enhancing the quality of research in the country and Abroad. At the same time, it is an endeavour of the department to attract good brains from other disciplines and to make them work in the area of Physical Education and Sports for the growth of this discipline.   Current Programmes of the Department Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology - One Year   Post Graduate Diploma in Computational Statistics  - Two Years (Duel Degree Option Programme along with MPE/ MPhil/ PhD.)
